Commando Cody:

Commando Cody was the hero in a 12-episode science-fiction serial made in 1952 by Republic Pictures entitled Radar Men from the Moon, which was followed up 1953 with the 12 episode (or chapter) Commando Cody: Sky Marshal of the Universe. The series was filmed and intended to be broadcast as a television limited series but, due to contract restrictions, it was originally released in theaters as a movie serial. It was released in theaters in 1953 and on television in 1955. Each episode is 25 minutes long.

The episodes for Sky Marshal of the Universe built on each other, and were intended to be shown in chronological order like the episodes of any other serial, but lacked the cliffhanger endings.

This series is a prequel to Radar Men from the Moon. The first episode shows Joan and Ted, Cody's established sidekicks in Radar Men, applying for their jobs and meeting Cody for the first time.

There was a fairly long break between the filming of the first three and the last nine episodes, during which Republic set about filming Zombies of the Stratosphere, also starring Judd Holdren and Aline Towne. Intended to also be a Cody serial, and the direct sequel to Radar Men from the Moon, it was subject to last-minute revisions of principal character names, and Holdren's "Cody" character became "Larry Martin."

Commando Cody serials are sometimes confused with King of the Rocket Men (1949), because the rocket-powered flying suit worn by the title character also became a wardrobe piece worn by Cody. To add to the confusion, Larry Martin wore the same suit again in Zombies of the Stratosphere. Referring to these different Republic Pictures characters wearing this prop suit were called collectively "The Rocketman". The Rocketman Serials were:

1. Commando Cody - Radar Men From the Moon - Chapter 1: Moon Rocket (1952) – George Wallace:

Radar Men from the Moon (Republic Pictures, 1952) was the first Commando Cody serial, in 12 chapters, starring newcomer George Wallace (1917-2005) as Cody and Aline Towne as his sidekick Joan Gilbert, with serial veteran Roy Barcroft as the evil Retik, the Ruler of the Moon. The director was Fred C. Brannon, with a screenplay by Ronald Davidson and special effects by the Lydecker brothers.

Strategic targets on Earth are being destroyed by an unknown weapon. Government security head Henderson suspects it's an "atomic ray" originating from the moon! He assigns Commando Cody, scientist and man of action with a secret flying suit, to investigate. Soon, Cody is battling Earth thugs in the pay of Krog the moon man and making trips in his experimental rocket to the moon itself, in a perilous and all but single-handed effort to thwart the planned invasion of Earth.
